The Talisman is You
If you’ve read any of the discussion under my music tab, you’d recall that in an earlier life, I was the lead singer for a time for the rock group “Messiah”. We were mostly a hard rock group but had tendencies in our original pieces towards folk, country rock, alternative, Latin rock, jazz and also something I would characterize as a “Tolkeinish” style of music. Of course, “Tolkeinish” was, of or having involvement or influence with the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. We were in our twenties…enjoying life, playing music, and facing the long uncertain journey ahead… similar to Frodo and Samwise!
At a certain point, we realized that we needed to get some of our thoughts, ideas, and recordings out of our heads, and our weekly rehearsals, into a recorded medium. So my friend Mike bought a Tascam eight track reel to reel recording machine.
I spoke with Mike about this a about a year ago, and suggested we digitize what he had previously recorded on three cassettes entitled: “A Juggernaut from the Motherlode”. He agreed, and I recently completed the conversion… some of it was trash - but not all, in fact, some of it was beautiful,:
